Background

Settled in 1829, Kelvedon Estate, ten kilometres south of Swansea on Tasmania’s east coast, runs from bush-covered hills to the sea with spectacular views over Oyster Bay to the Freycinet Peninsula.

Father-daughter team Jack and Anna Cotton run seven and a half thousand super fine merinos and grow nine hectares of grapes for wine. While some of the fruit is sold under contract, about a third of the harvest is turned into wine under their own label, Kelvedon Estate.

With close to 20,000 bottles of wine to sell each year, Anna and Jack required a suite of images to promote the brand and help sell product.

Kelvedon Estate
Photography project

Brief

Images needed to portray a down-to-earth agricultural enterprise and emphasise the family’s unique position as growers and producers of both fine wool and wine in a spectacular coastal and bushland setting.

Product, lifestyle, and landscape images that blend the historical and natural assets of the property were required to establish an image library for use on social media.

Outcome

Two and a half days of shooting resulted in an image library encompassing all aspects of the property, including its spectacular views, historical buildings, the family’s deep connection to the wool industry, as well as product and lifestyle shots for promoting individual varieties.
